When You Don’t Know What to Do - Do What You Know to Do
I think one of the hardest things for Christians to do is move forward; to advance.
We are so fearful that we’ll make the wrong move that we become paralyzed and end up doing nothing under the guise of waiting on God to tell us what to do.
Fear. The word itself makes you conscious of what’s going on around you. The enemy of your soul is the author of fear. It is his most successful weapon to date. Really, it’s his only weapon. Faith and fear are polar opposites. Faith moves you in God’s Kingdom and fear in the enemy’s.
Sometimes he whispers. Sometimes he screams, bombarding our minds with fiery darts stopping us in our tracks.
It’s in these moments that we must not allow fear to control us.
I’ve never had to do this before.
I don’t want to make the wrong choice.
I don’t know how.
Uncertainty of the unknown. Is our fear of the uncertainty greater than our faith in the Almighty? Do we really believe that He’ll come through on His Word…. for us?
He said, “I’ll never leave you or forsake you”.
He said, “If you need wisdom, ask Me and I’ll give it to you”.
When you don’t know what to do, do what you know to do.
We may not know every step we need to take, but we do know the first step. Our first step is to make a choice. Do we choose fear or faith? Who’s report will we believe, the ten spies who said, “we are as grasshoppers in their sight and in ours as well” or are we with Joshua and Caleb who said, “We are well able to take the land!”?
Joshua and Caleb didn’t know how, but they knew Who.
Trust Who you know Him to be. He is God Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth. He is the Lover of your Soul. He is the Prince of Peace. He is Love and He is Good. Anything in opposition to these is not Him, because He does not change.
Our faith must be mixed with action. That means, if we believe the lights will come on when we flip the switch, then we flip the switch.
I know, I know- the concept is easy, execution seems a little tricky.
What does faith with action look like?
If you’re sick and are receiving healing for your body, faith in action might look like making Scripture confessions over your body. Make plans for what you want to do when you see God’s work manifest.
If you need provision, find Scriptures that deal with God meeting your every need. He’s also you Shepherd that you will not want. Make a budget. Price things that you need or want.
If you need wisdom, make a plan, or several.
Trust His Spirit living in you. He’s not going to leave you hanging. You may have to be patient while He lines things up on the other end.
We must believe that if He said it, then He’s going to do it. And in the meantime, when you don’t know what to do, do what you know to do
